Dating Tips and Advice for Singles in Atlanta, GA
"Don't let what others think discourage you from anything. Atlanta is a very diverse city with alot of people from different backgrounds! Go to a baseball game, go to the theater and watch a play or movie. Go to an arts and crats shop and make something together. Or just go to the movies and dinner to get to know each other really well! It's better to get all the secrets out now, because later will be too late!" -Ashley, Covington
"Landmark Theater is my favorite theater! Kind of arsty, they always have really fun & cheap midnight movies on the weekends, and usually there are movies playing there that aren't mainstream. And in addition to popcorn, they serve baked goods and juices.
If you're looking for a late night dinner and movie thing, maybe before going to the midnight show you can stop by Einstein's restaurant in Midtown/Buckhead. They've great food [try the duck quesadilla], and a wonderful atmosphere. Not too outrageously expensive. An alternative would be Nikimoto's, which offers sushi and more laid back company.
And speaking of fish, the aquarium is open now and makes for a wonderful first date; if you have trouble getting a conversation going you can always start talking about the different animals, which can open up tons of topics like exotic places you'd like to travel or past travelling experiences.
Of course any little coffee shop will do- you can always get coffee at Caribou, Dunkin Donuts, old reliable Starbucks, and then go for a walk in Piedmont Park. There's a pretty lake there that you can sit by." -Stephanie Funk, Marietta/Athens, Georgia
"Apres Diem in midtown Atlanta is a wonderful environment for a first date. it is lively enough that you will have a good time but the seating is private enough to focus in on your own date. Great food, drinks, and atmosphere. " -Anonymous,
"Mostly people here are interested in looks, wealth, and education. Education to me is important, but the other ones aren't as important.
Good spots for taking a date out would be Buckhead to a club or a nice, fancy restraunt, or Atlanta Botanical Gardens. There are also a lot of amusement parks, the zoo, and art galleries. There are lots of things to do, so sharing your interests with your date shouldn't be hard. To meet singles, do not go to a club; go somewhere where a conversation can be started and neither of you are drunk!" -Veronica, Oxford
"A fantastic place to meet singles is through volunteering with Trees Atlanta. Their website is www.treesatlanta.org and it is a non-profit organization that plants and maintains trees in the Atlanta area. It's every Saturday from 8-noon and afterwards we all head out to get pizza at a local pizza place. Not only do you provide a great service to the community, but you also have a great social time to hang out with environmentally or community-minded people and find great places to hang out in Atlanta. Volunteers tend to be in their 20s to 30s and are some of the nicest, most genuine, intellectually engaging people I've ever met. We have a great time with each other and provide a great service!" -Jessica, Decatur
"I live in Athens, but people my age in Atlanta are interested in the nightlife and having fun. Take a date anywhere....if the connection is there, you can have fun anywhere. Buckhead is where the nightlife is at." -Leigh, Athens
